Our service area has changed. We cannot provide priority service to customers located in the yellow areas. It is our pleasure to serve customers in these areas but service is on a “We get there when we get there basis” at this time.
Grand Forks Snow Removal is owned by Joshua and Monica Wellington. We have two twin boys and we live here in town. We love Grand Forks, ND and now consider ourselves to be “from” North Dakota. Often times people ask us why did you move here? They say why would you leave California for North Dakota? I tell them a long list of reason like lower crime rates, cleaner air, better schools, no traffic, etc etc. But the #1 reason is that North Dakota is hands down a better place to raise children than California. Thank you for welcoming us in and making us feel right at home. In return we are committed to providing you with excellent service long into the future and to create many job opportunities while we do it!

This question is not an easy question to answer. The short answer is that we do our best to clear all driveways by 7am but we can’t guarantee it because the weather is the determining factor.
The long answer is that a lot depends on the when the storm begins, how much falls, and how long it lasts. We have learned that it is not wise to promise service by a certain time when the weather is completely out of our hands.
Instead of promising a certain time we have created a policy for how we intend to handle various situations.
Small Storms: (up to 4 inches) We will wait until the storm is completely done before start clearing driveways.
As an example, if it starts snowing at 4am and and the storm is predicted to be over by noon then we will start clearing driveways about 12:30.
Larger Storms: (more than 4 inches) If it’s predicted to be a larger storm, we will wait until it snows at least two inches to start our first pass. This will take about 4 to 6 hours. We will make additional passes as needed until the storm is finished.
Blizzards: During severe weather conditions such as blizzards, high winds, super low wind chills, etc. service times will be impacted. We will do our best to get your driveway cleared within 24 hours of the storm’s completion. We will make multiple passes during the storm and a final more detailed pass once the storm is completed.
We start clearing city sidewalks after we have finished clearing driveways. This is usually completed within 48 hours of a blizzard.
We provide regular updates via automated text messages. You can also find updates on our website and Facebook page. If you need to contact us, texting us at 701-620-0612 is the most effective method of communication.
We use compact and sub compact tractors with snow blowers and heated cabs. This allows us to provide excellent service in most weather conditions.
We never use Salt. We do apply Ice Melt for an additional fee. It can be billed on a per service basis and or on a seasonal basis.
We offer ice removal and driveway scraping as separate one time services. These services are not included in any of our service contracts.
If the city plow comes after we have cleared your driveway and leaves a large ridge or pile of snow that many people refer to as “the berm” just let us know either by calling or texting and we will come back and fix it for free.
We go by the official totals from the Grand Forks Weather Service which are updated daily at the following website: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=fgf
No. We make to promise or guarantee that your driveway or sidewalks will be slip free. We only clear the snow using snow blower and possibly a plow in an emergency situation.
No. The reason we do not issue refunds once the season has started is that we purchase expensive equipment and supplies, hire employees, and budget maintenance costs based upon the needs of all who purchase service agreements. Once this money is spent it can’t be unspent. Therefore we cannot issue refunds without putting our business in jeopardy of going bankrupt. This is why we make every effort to communicate clear expectations from the very beginning.
We do not include shoveling as part of our standard service agreements. We do provide this service to a limited number of customers. If all the slots are full you can request to be put on a waiting list.
We shovel a very limited number of walkways. This service is reserved for elderly customers and those with health issues that prevent them from shoveling for themselves. Please let us know as we have a limited capacity.
Our seasonal price is calculated based upon new snow fall events. Snow that blows into your driveway after the event is over and service has been provided is not included. Additional services are available at a discounted price for our customers with service contracts.
